While Texas is not the state with the highest percentage of insured residents in the nation, is a central question, what are the implications of it, from a human point of view and purely economic.
December 2006 A report by the Institute of Health in Texas, sponsored by the Methodist Health Ministry said the costs are substantial, both socially and economically.

A summary of the topic shows that higher than the national average of people in Texas, including those in Houston, Dallas and Austin, with no health insurance. Compared to the national average of 18% uninsured (in 2005), about 27% of the people of Texas have no health insurance, some 5.5 million people.
